Tigers Win Following Early Power Display

Detroit showed off the pop in their bats early in their 7-4 win against the Texas Rangers last night. In the first inning, it was Jeimer Candelario and Victor Martinez who would hit a solo and 2-run shot, respectively. One inning later, Jose Iglesias would tee off on Texas starter Mike Minor for a two run homer of his own, and spot Tigers starter Mike Fiers an early 5-0 lead. Fiers would allow a run in the fifth and would be charged with one in the sixth after departing with a runner on second and 1 out. Joe Jimenez would allow two runs in the eighth, which the Tigers would get back in the 9th, but that would be all for Texas, as Shane Greene would toss a 4-out save and cap a Tiger 7-4 win.

This afternoon, the Tigers and Francisco Liriano (3-1, 2.97 ERA) will face 44-year-old Bartolo Colon (1-1, 3.29 ERA) in Texas. You can hear the first pitch LIVE on Jackson ESPN 101.9FM at 2:05pm.
