Red Wings land Sixth Pick in NHL Draft Lottery

Detroit had just an 8.5% chance at landing the first overall pick in the NHL Draft lottery Saturday night, and despite Montreal moving into the top 3, the Red Wings ended up right were the math expected them to. Detroit will pick sixth overall in the draft, and here’s a list of potential players available for them to select, in no particular order. TSN’s Director of Scouting Craig Button provides the insight.

Quinn Hughes – D – University of Michigan

Smooth skating defenceman has the calm, poise and mind to be a well-rounded contributor and play significant minutes.

Evan Bouchard – D – London Knights (OHL)

You won’t get a lot of flash and dash but he’s smart, efficient, competitive and makes the game look easy.

Noah Dobson – D – Acadie-Bathurst Titan (QMJHL)

Good compliment to a defensive corps.

Adam Boqvist – D – Byrnas (SWE-J20)

Seems to be the perfect fit for a team that needs exactly what he brings – skill, creativity and daring from the blue line.

The NHL Entry Draft will be held June 22-23 from the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas.
