Tuesday, Spring Arbor University announced a $1.1 million project to renovate and restore the Ralph G. Walker Memorial Track & Field Complex. This project will feature complete removal of the current track and installation of an 8 lane track with a top-of-the-line 13mm latex coated, granulated rubber surface.
The field events will also receive attention with new long-jump, triple-jump, and pole-vault runways and pits. SAU will also build a combined hammer and discus throwing cage which they previously didn’t have.
The construction is made possible by a lead gift of $400,000, plus a $200,000 challenge gift for a total of $600,000 from the Martin D. and Mary J. Walker Charitable Foundation.
