The Lumen Christi girls soccer team saw its season come to a dramatic end Tuesday night in the regional semifinals, falling to Plymouth Christian Academy in a penalty shootout, 4-2. A year after winning a state title on PKs, the Titans found themselves on the wrong end of the same fate.

Lumen struck first on a corner kick in the sixth minute, but the Eagles tied it late in the first half. Both teams added goals in overtime — with Kathleen Doane equalizing off a corner in the 96th minute — sending the match to penalties at 2-2.

Titans goalkeeper Elayna Losey made several key stops throughout the match, but Plymouth Christian’s keeper made the difference in the shootout, stopping two Titan attempts and converting one herself. The loss closes the high school careers of Lumen seniors Kathleen Doane, Paityn Petitto, and injured midfielder Sarah Marsh.
