Jackson College Men and Women Win on Wednesday

On Wednesday night the Jackson College Jets men’s and women’s teams caught fire in the first half of their games and rolled to easy victories against Lake Michigan College.

The Jets women’s team played game 1 of the radio doubleheader and got out to a quick start scoring the first 12 points and led 41 to 15 at halftime.  Alexis Thompson had 9 points and 6 rebounds at halftime.

After the halftime break the Jets came out a little sluggish and turned the ball over a handful of times early in the 3rd quarter.  The Jets would regain their rhythm though and with help from 13 second half points by Madison Montgomery the Jets would win easily 81-42.

Montgomery finished the game with 15 points to lead all scorers.  Alexis Thompson was selected as the radio player of the game with 13 points and 19 rebounds.

The men’s game began similarly as the Jets jumped out to an early lead behind a hot shooting first half by Marcellus Freeman.  Freeman scored 30 points including making 7-10 three point attempts.  Jackson led 50-18 at halftime.

The lake Michigan Red Hawks came out with more fire in the 2nd half and began to close the gap but Jackson made enough plays to keep them at bay.  A flurry of 3 point makes with a little over 2 minutes remaining got the Red Hawks to within 10 points but Jackson iced the game at the free throw line.  The final was 86-74.  Freeman’s scoring slowed in the second half and he ended the game with 34 and was selected as the player of the game on the radio broadcast.
