High school track state meet results from Saturday (6/1) for athletes from Jackson County area schools.

Division 1 @ East Kentwood

Men’s results

Ahmad Ameen of Jackson took 5th in the 200 meters with a time of 22.30.

Ahmad Ameen also took 4th in the 400 Meters with a time of 47.92.

Division 2 @ Hamilton

Men’s results

Junior Hudson Cooper of North west took 10th in the 400 Meters with a time of 50.36.

Sophomore Edison Lopeman of Western finished 5th in the 3200 meters with a PR time of 9:16.51.

Senior Jashua Veneziano of Western took 9th in the 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of 40.91.

Western’s Ryan Good, Seth Good, Edison Lopeman, and Cooper Singleton took 9th in the 4×800 Relay with a time of 8:02.10.

Junior Brennan Faber of Western placed 2nd in Shot Put with a throw of 59’10.5. Senior Noah Shaw took 9th with a throw of 53’2 and in Discus he threw 166’1 taking 2nd.

Joshua Veneziano, Western senior placed 3rd in the high jump at 6’5.

In the Pole Vault, Western Sophomore Braden Vancalbergh place 10th at 13’4.

Senior Calub Ruddjones of Western had a long jump of 20’8 taking 10th.

Division 3 @ Kent City

Saturday was the State Championship over at Kent City for the D3 Track and Field Athletes including Hanover-Horton. Graham Gumper was All-State for the 3rd time in the 100m and newly an All-State athlete in the 200m while also setting a new school record of 22.04 seconds. Sophie Reynolds also became All-State in the 400m and the 800m.
The last race of the day was the 4x400m team of Sophie Reynolds, Brynlee Swihart, Liv Perrine, and Chelsea Russ which made for an exciting race for the title and earned All-State honors.
The boys’ 4x200m team of JJ Russ, AJ Fielder, Jaxon Johnson, and Graham Gumper just missed All-State but set a new school record of 1:31.84.
Shout outs to all our other state qualifiers who represented HH well and with pride: Ava Schnell, Cooper Flick, Zach Hassenzahl, Evan Shepherd, Owen Brown, Landen Boulis, David Fielder, and Brady Tamblyn.
