On Tuesday, the #8 Panthers Girls Tennis Team hosted the Division 2 #9 Battle Creek Lakeview. The Panthers secured a 5-3 victory over the Spartans to improve their overall record to 7-3-1. Ellie McCollum got the first win for the team at 4 singles and received her first coveted Victory Poncho. Next up, the Panthers will host #3 Chelsea on Wednesday at 3 pm. Let’s go Panthers!

The Golden Eagles traveled to Hanover-Horton to compete against the Comets, in a duel between undefeated teams (on the boys side) in the Cascades West Conference.
On the boys side, it was a close meet but the Comets took the lead early with strong field events and distance points. Columbia sprints pulled the team back into the meet led by Luke Ellison, Bauston Pilaczynski and Trent Troyer. Luke won the 100m dash and 200m dash. Bauston Pilaczynski placed in the 100m dash and long jump. Trent Troyer placed second in both the 200m and 400m dashes. Columbia sprints also put together a quick 4×100 with the team of Luke, Bauston, Trent and adding Wyatt Vowell (#5 All-Time in Columbia history). Joel David won the pole vault and had a huge personal record in the 300 hurdles. Zach Johnson had a good day winning the 300m hurdles with a personal record and running a strong leg of the 4×400. Finally, Owen Lambarth won the 3200m with Nathan Ostrosky placing second not far behind. At the end of day, Columbia Central boys fell short losing the meet 76 to 59.
In the girls meet, Melyssa McJennett went undefeated in individual events winning the 100m, 300m hurdles and long jump. Sonia Butler, in spite of fighting off injury, ran a FAST 800m time of 2:37.37 setting a new freshman record for Columbia Central. In the throws, Molly Sierer and Bella Huston both took the top spots in the discus and shotput with Molly winning the shot put and Bella winning the discus.
The Golden Eagle track and field teams compete next at the East Jackson Dome Classic on Friday, May 2nd.
