After a back-and-forth game, your Panthers are 2023 District Champions with the scores of  26-24, 25-23, 22-25, 22-25, 15-12. It was great to see the team play at such a high level and never give up. The community couldn’t be more proud of the amount of grit the girls showed tonight.

Division 3, District 80 @ Homer

Homer 3 vs. Springport 0

Homer won its first district in 22 years defeating Springport 25-22, 25-14, 25-18

Elle Petersen led the attack with 12 kills.
Paige Austin had 9
Kennedy Miller had 7 kills with 4 block kills.
Emma Jones had 12 assists.
Matilde Stocchi dominated serving   23 of 24  and 8 aces in set 2 and 3.One of those aces was match point. She dominated the defense as well with 14 digs.
Homer came out slow in the first game and were down by as much as 7. The girls were playing a little tense on defense making it difficult to attack. Paige Austin put down the first kill for the team and we’re brought back behind her 8 of 8 serving effort.
The second game Matilde got the team to a 5 point lead with her tough serving.
After the slow start, the energy picked up and the girls were able play with strong defensive efforts that kept plays alive and forced Springport into errors.
This has been a goal since the first day. We walked the halls and looked at the successful teams and the trophies in the cases. We noticed the long gap for volleyball and set out to add to the hall walls. I’m proud of the way girls stayed focused and played with determination to win. I could tell from the time I arrived how much the girls wanted the win tonight.  I am ecstatic for them.
