The Springport Spartans hosted the Olivet Eagles last night in a non conference match up. The Spartans had a impressive 15-6 first quarter. Even with a 27- 16 halftime lead. I knew the Eagles would make a run. The cut the deficit to 3. The Spartans holding a 29-26 lead in the 3rd quarter. I told my team “We took their best shot now it’s our turn”. Springport went on a huge run and had a impressive 20 point 4th quarter. I love the resilience of my team. Even after their run. My team was poised and never rattled. They know basketball is a game of runs. I am very proud of them.
The Spartans record is now 13-3 overall and 7-1 in Big 8 play.
The Olivet Eagles were led by Olivia Gessner with 14 points. The Spartans are back in action on Feb 15 as they travel to Lenawee Christian.
