Bree Salts (2025) collected three hits in three at bats, as Grass Lake Varsity Softball defeated Chelsea 4-2 on Saturday. Salts (2025) singled in the seventh inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the third inning. Grass Lake opened the scoring in the third after an error scored one run. Avery Lay homered to left field, which helped Chelsea tie the game at two in the bottom of the sixth. In the top of the seventh, Grass Lake broke up the tie when Salts (2025) singled, scoring one run. Then a single by Nadene Hubbard (2025) followed to extend the lead to 4-2. Morgan “Mo” Conrad (2026) earned the win for Grass Lake Varsity Warriors. The hurler surrendered seven hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out four and walking none. Lay took the loss for Chelsea. The hurler went seven innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on 12 hits, striking out seven and walking one. Grass Lake Varsity Warriors amassed 12 hits in the game. Leilah Smith (2026), Hubbard (2025), and Emily Brown (2025) each collected multiple hits for Grass Lake Varsity Warriors. Grass Lake Varsity Warriors turned one double play in the game. Grass Lake Varsity Warriors were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Makenzie Hilberer (2027) made the most plays with seven. Lay provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Chelsea with two runs batted in. The pitcher went 1-for-3 on the day. Kylie Beckel and A Sherwood each collected two hits for Chelsea.
