Greiss helps Red Wings defeat Rangers in six-round shootout

Thomas Greiss made 37 saves, and the Detroit Red Wings defeated the New York Rangers 3-2 in a six-round shootout at Madison Square Garden on Thursday.

Greiss didn’t allow a goal against the last five shooters he faced, stopping Filip Chytil in the bottom of the sixth round to clinch the win after Pius Suter scored in the top of the sixth.

“You don’t win in this league without really good goaltending,” Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said. “‘Greisser’ gave us that.”
