Zach Fucale made 21 saves for the shutout in his NHL debut, and the Washington Capitals defeated the Detroit Red Wings 2-0 at Little Caesars Arena on Thursday.
Fucale is the first Capitals goalie with a shutout in his debut and the first in the NHL since Garret Sparks for the Toronto Maple Leafs against the Edmonton Oilers on Nov. 30, 2015.
