Fiers and Bell Struggle as Tigers Lose to KC

Both Mike Fiers and Chad Bell allowed five runs in Detroit’s 10-6 loss to Kansas City on Thursday.

Fiers lasted just four innings and faced just 19 batters. Bell, who took the loss, faced just 11 batters, allowing 3 to score, before Warwick Saupold allowed both runners he inherited from Bell to score.

Detroit’s offense put up runs, but the pitching staff could not keep the Royal bats at bay. Jeimer Candelario and Nicholas Castellanos continued their strong play recently, with a pair of RBIs each. James McCann and John Hicks drove in the other runs for Detroit. Kansas City’s Lucas Duda had a monster game, going 3-for-4 with 4 RBI.

The Royals and Tigers continue their series tonight from Kaufmann Stadium in Kansas City. Francisco Liriano (3-1, 3.38 ERA) toes the rubber for Detroit against Ian Kennedy 1-3, 3.48 ERA) for KC. First pitch is 8:15pm Eastern LIVE on Jackson ESPN 101.9
