Cabrera Returns, Leaves Lineup With Another Injury

Miguel Cabrera missed most of the week with a biceps injury. When Victor Martinez needed a day off to nurse an injured ankle, Cabrera got a shot to play a little DH in his return to the lineup.

It wouldn’t last long, as Cabrera would exit the game after driving a single off of Kansas City shortstop Alcides Escobar’s glove and advancing to second on a single by Nicholas Castellanos. Niko Goodrum would pinch run for Cabrera, and remain in the game at DH.

There is no work from the training staff on the extent of Cabrera’s injury or if he’ll miss any time with the new injury.

In the event that Cabrera can’t play, John Hicks is slated to continue to fill in at first base. Victor Martinez should be available to DH Friday.
