Hailey Wetherby struck out 16 batters as the hurler led Columbia Central Varsity Golden Eagles past Northwest 4-2 on Tuesday. Wetherby surrendered two hits and two runs over eight innings while walking two.
Columbia Central Varsity Golden Eagles were the first to get on the board in the third when Kelsey Fausz doubled, scoring one run.
Northwest tied the game in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a sacrifice bunt by Shannon Christner
(2028), and a dropped third strike.
Columbia Central Varsity Golden Eagles took the lead in the top of the eighth inning after Gianna Evans singled down the right field line, and Fausz singled to right field, each scoring one run.
Lucy Bivens (2025) opened the game for Northwest. The hurler surrendered six hits and three runs (two earned) over eight innings, striking out 10 and walking none.
Leadoff hitter Fausz led Columbia Central Varsity Golden Eagles with three hits in four at bats. Gianna Evans collected two hits for the eagles in three at bats.

Competitive Game Ends In Walkoff As Columbia Central Varsity Golden Eagles Falls To Northwest
Columbia Central Varsity Golden Eagles fell to Northwest 8-7 on Tuesday on the final play of the game. The game was tied at seven in the bottom of the seventh when Mollie Robinson (2025) singled, scoring one run.
Northwest got on the board in the first inning after Ari Good (2025) homered to center field, scoring two runs.
Columbia Central Varsity Golden Eagles flipped the game on its head in the top of the third, scoring five runs on two hits to take the lead, 5-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Kelsey Fausz that drove in two.
Northwest scored two runs in the bottom of the third on a home run to left field by Lucy Bivens (2025).
Northwest made the score 7-5 in the bottom of the fifth after an error scored one run, and Robinson
(2025) singled, scoring two runs.
Columbia Central Varsity Golden Eagles tied the game in the top of the sixth thanks to a double by Gianna Evans, and a single by McKenna Hoskins.
