Girls High School Soccer

The Columbia Central Golden Eagles Varsity Girl’s Soccer team improved to 7-1-1 on the season with a strong defensive effort and a 1-0 victory at home over the visiting Pirates of Napoleon on Monday evening in Cascades Conference Action.

Sophomore Mara Henry fired a shot past senior goalkeeper Joy Collins off an assist from senior captain Peyton Huston late in the first half and the Golden Eagles defense stymied Napoleon the rest of the way.  Napoleon turned in a solid defensive effort of their own with Collins making a bunch of good saves.

Columbia Central head coach Andy Hosmer said after the game “Napoleon had a good game plan and executed it well.  They did a tremendous job keeping everything out in front of  them and bottling up the middle.  And when we did break through Collins thwarted our shots.  But we got the one goal we needed and our defense has been the core of our success all season as we have only given up four goals in 9 games so far. ”  Napoleon failed to register a shot on goal all evening making for a quiet night once again for junior goalkeeper Kolie Brown.

Columbia currently sits in 3^rd in the Cascades at 5-1-1 while Napoleon is in 6^th at 2-6-1.
