High School Sports

Results from yesterday in a variety of high school sports for Jackson area league teams.

Lacrosse

Close game tonight. We were tied 4-4 going into the 4th. Had a string of unfortunate turnovers. Final score Jackson 4 Pinckney 8. Hikaru Matzen had 21 saves played out of his mind again. Luke Bergkoetter had 3 goals and Jack Whyte had the other. We play Pinckney again at their field next Monday.

Track

Tuesday, April 16th, the golden eagle track and field teams competed against Addison high school and Hanover-Horton high school at Hanover.
In the boys meet, as a team the golden eagles fell short against Hanover and beat the Addison panthers. Event winners for the night included, Kaleb Pffafinger in the 110 and 300 hurdles, Tajhon Majors in the shot put (throwing a personal record), Broden Steinke in the discus, Luke Ellison in the 200, and the boys 4×100 team of Zach Johnson, Nathan Adam, Everett Uphaus and Luke Ellison. Other notable performances were the 4×800 team of Jayden Gresham, David Munro, Quinten Dickerson and Kavonn Deboer breaking the Columbia freshman 4×800 record, as well as Julian Simms and Conner Cole jumping a personal record to place 2nd and 3rd in the long jump.
 
On the girls side, event winners included Melyssa McJennett with PR in the long jump, Maddie Rentfrow with a PR in the pole vault (tying 2nd in the Columbia record books) and the girls 4×100 team of Trinity Cota, Khloe Pumfrey, Katelyn Cielen and Jasmine Partin winning by .01 seconds. As a team the girls fell short against Hanover and Addison but showed great improvement overall.
 
The golden eagle track and field teams compete next against Jonesville High school at Jonesville on Tuesday, April 23rd.
