District tournament results and next round matchups for Jackson area league teams.
Division 2, District 49 @ Chelsea
District Final 11/09
Western 3, Columbia 0
What a great & exciting District week traveling the road to finals. Beating Michigan Center on Monday, battling a tough Chelsea team winning in 5 on Wednesday & competing in the D2 District Finals game against Western this beautiful Saturday morning! Unfortunately the amazing ride stops here for our Lady Golden Eagles as Western swept the ladies in 3 set.
12-25, 17-25 & 18-25.
The energy was very different today from Wednesday. We started out really kind of flat & just couldn’t put it all together to find our rhythm. The look of a little bit of nerves & intimation kinda set in for a little bit as the Panthers continued to force our offense out of systems. We were not able to get as many swings as we would have liked, but we continued to battle in all 3 sets. We just couldn’t climb in the drivers seat & take over. We never gave up & we continued to fight all the way to the end. We are super sad to say goodbye to our Seniors Allie Choate & Blythe McClain! You surely will be missed but know you are both leaving a great legacy behind. Your dedication to Columbia Volleyball the last 6 years is very much appreciated. You both will do great things in your next chapter.
This team is super young, with a ton of talent. They know what it takes to get to the finals & with the experience they have now…..you will see Columbia Central back next year.
Freshman Lydia Sander led the kills today with 5, followed by Sophomore Mara Henry & Senior Allie Choate with 4 each, while Mara also adding 3 blocks
Junior Cecelia Slat led in defense with 14 digs, followed by Junior Alison Richardson with 13 digs, 12 assists & 3 aces
Junior Kiley Swift added 7 digs
Sisters Junior Kolie Brown & Freshman Leelyn Brown both chipped in 2 kills each
Freshman Harlow Zuver was 7/8 in serve receive.

Your Lady Warriors ended their season in a five set battle with Manchester but didn’t have enough to finish with the win losing (23-25,25-16,25-22,20-25,13-15). The Warriors battled all night not letting Manchester win it easily. They could have gave up in the fifth set when they were down but they closed the gap ending 13-15. Mia Buttigieg had 35 assists.
