Lions star pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson suffered a significant injury during Detroit’s dominant 47-9 win over the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium. The NFL’s sack leader broke his right tibia while sacking Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott in the third quarter. Hutchinson will undergo surgery in Dallas, and it’s unclear when or if he’ll return this season.
Hutchinson’s injury is a huge blow for Detroit, especially as they chase a Super Bowl. The third-year standout had been on track for Defensive Player of the Year honors with a league-leading 7.5 sacks. His absence adds to the Lions’ growing list of defensive injuries, including Marcus Davenport and Derrick Barnes.
Detroit, now 4-1, will have to regroup quickly as they face the unbeaten Vikings next week.
